24: 24/1195- The Blues Master for Steve Plater (1995)

number24

One of my favourite guitarists, Geoff Achison, christened this guitar  ”the tone monster” when he first heard it…

Broadly based on Steve’s 64 “L” Series Jaguar, the body was constructed in tone-chambered mahogany with a highly figured maple top and “f” hole to the bass side. The neck is figured maple and is short scale. The fret board is inlaid “BLUES” in mother-of-pearl. This guitar has changed owners a number of times since it was made, but was bought late in 2008 by Sydney musician Paul Carpenter from the band Too Many Guitars-(love the band name…).

Paul sent me this photo only yesterday…

Since it was made some 17 years ago, the guitar has had an additional single coil pickup installed.

But I’m also delighted that it’s still meeting Paul’s musical requirements…
